[Korean Cultural Center in Belgium] SOUND KOREA 2022: K-pop to K-Classic

 

<Korean Culture Scene>, the leading brand of the Korean Culture and Information Service to promote Korean culture all around the world, has returned this year with various linked events in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centers in six different countries and regions.

The Korean Culture and Information Center tries to fill the Korean Culture Scene with various festivals in a bid to promote Korean culture in easy and fun ways.

Today, as part of the Korean Culture Scene, you are invited to the world of colorful Korean music <SOUND KOREA 2022: K-pop to K-Classic> co-hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium and the Korean Culture and Information Service!


The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium is holding an event where you can experience the origins of the main genres of Korean music with its focus on performances from September to December 2022.

In the Korean Culture Scene in Hungary with the theme of “SOUND KOREA 2022: K-pop to K-Classic,” three different genres of performances featuring of Modern Sound, Traditional Sound, and Classical Sound of Korean music will be presented.

Alongside this, there will be events linked to the SOUND KOREA such as the screenings of Korean music films and documentaries.

In September, three concerts are coming to you.

On September 4, ‘Black Swan,’ the first and only global girl group in Korea that consists of members from Belgium, Brazil, Germany, and India held a concert and showed off the distinctive charms of Korean idols while heralding the splendorous start of the SOUND KOREA 2022.

The ‘RE:SOUND KOREAN POP’ held at the La Madeleine on September 14 is a concert that lets you experience the past and the present of Korean pop music.
Six singers leading Korean pop music including Park Hacki, Eun mee Lee, Park Seunghwa, Ali, and Haam Choon ho sing about freedom and peace.

On September 16, LEENALCHI, the icon of creative Korean traditional music, has their first live concert in Belgium. You can watch the interesting performance that features a rearrangement of <Sugungga>, a story from long ago in Korea, in a contemporary fashion.


In October, you can enjoy concerts of Korean classical music and jazz hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium.

On October 13, jazz vocalist Malo dubbed the ‘Queen of Jazz’ will take you to the world of artistic and delicate jazz.
Come and enjoy the new style of jazz that is born with Korean traditional melodies and Hangeul.

On October 19, Clara-Jumi Kang & Sunwook Kim will permeate Brussels’ autumn with their fantastic classical concert.
The wonderful performances by the internationally renowned violinist Clara Jumi-Kang and pianist Sunwook Kim will be taking place in the Flagey Studio 1.


In November, the SOUND KOREA 2022 hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium continues.

From November 16 to November 25, you can experience the sound of Geomungo, one of the Korean traditional stringed instruments, played by ‘Baudouin de Jear & Kim Joon-young.’
Come and appreciate the harmony of modern and traditional sounds in the experimental and deep world of music presented by Geomungo. 

You can also watch the concert by ‘Ramhon Choe Jeong u’ who is a composer and guitarist in November. Come and check out the charms of this artist who works in various fields as a musician, philosopher, literary critic, and music critic.

Lastly, in December, you can enjoy two concerts in the SOUND KOREA 2022.

On December 6, a concert by the ‘Kang Eun-il Haegeumplus,’ a band that has been performing contemporary music based on Korean traditional music all around the world for the last 22 years, is taking place in Theatre Marni.

On December 17, violinist Ji young Lim and cellist Hayoung Choi who won the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, one of the three most coveted classical music contests in the world, come back to Belgium and have their first collaboration concert.
Don't miss this concert by ‘Ji young Lim & Hayoung Choi’ that will be the grand finale of the SOUND KOREA 2022.


The SOUND KOREA 2022 that takes place as part of the Korean Culture Scene and is hosted by the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium will take you on a journey to discover the colorful and dynamic music of Korea.

You can experience and enjoy Korean music ranging from classical to modern music, folk to jazz, and traditional to pop music in Belgium from September to December.
