The Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene endeavoring to promote Korean culture to make it more familiar to everyone in the world!

This year, the Korean Culture and Information Service hosted Korean culture festivals tailored to each region under the title of Korean Culture Scene in collaboration with six Korean Cultural Centers abroad, and they have attracted a lot of attention from locals.

In Hong Kong, a city of culture and art where the west and the east meet, a variety of Korean culture events centering around Korean pop culture such as a K-Pop lightstick exhibition, K-Pop exhibition, and lecture on pop culture took place with huge success.

Let's look back on the Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene that was held in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong and linked to the Festive Korea, one of the biggest Korean culture festivals in Hong Kong.

The ‘Korea Square,’ a large-scale comprehensive Korean culture festival, was held in the West Kowloon Cultural District which is one of the biggest cultural complexes in Hong Kong.

As a part of the Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene, the Korea Square provided Hong Kongers an opportunity to experience Korean culture at first hand.

Various cultural activities involving Hanbok, traditional plays, Kimchi, K-Pop, Samulnori, and Taekwondo were available to experience, and vigorous cultural exchanges between Korea and Hong Kong involving Korean communities and companies that have entered the Hong Kong market took place.

The Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene has been continuously attracting global interest not just in traditional Korean culture but also in a variety of modern aspects of Korean culture by hosting various Korean culture festivals.

In October 29, a game festival took place in a bid to promote Korean E-sports culture in Hong Kong.

In the ‘K-game Festival 2022: Summoners War,’ the tournament of Korea’s leading mobile game company Com2uS’s globally popular mobile game ‘Summoners War’ was held.

Awarding the Summoners War winners Korean electronic goods and involving costume players wearing the game characters’ costumes in the festival helped attract the interest of visitors in Korean game contents and contributed to invigorating Korean E-sports in Hong Kong.

On November 11 and 18, a ‘Lecture on Korean Pop Culture’ was held co-hosted by the Korean Cultural Center and the Asia Society Hong Kong Center.

In this lecture held at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, the past, present, and future of Hallyu were talked about.

It was a time to examine the characteristics of various Korean TV programs such as K-dramas and K-entertainment shows that started the Korean pop culture and that have had a huge impact on Hong Kong culture since the 2000s and to share the charms of Hallyu that has fascinated the world.

The exhibition ‘K-Pop, Now Here’ that was held at the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong from November 18 to 26 was successfully concluded as well.

The Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene Touring Exhibition shed light on over 50 years of K-Pop history and displayed various interactive media arts for visitors to participate in so as to enjoy K-Pop in a fun way.

It offered a chance for locals to enjoy K-Pop with their family and friends and see the trends and history of K-Pop.

The K-Pop lightstick exhibition that concurrently took place also received a lot of attention and demonstrated the growing popularity of K-Pop in Hong Kong.

During the Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene, cultural exchanges between Korea and Hong Kong were reinvigorated.

The Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene 2022 has great significance in that it was conducted in collaboration with local organizations in Hong Kong and provided an opportunity for dynamic cultural exchanges.

The Korean Culture and Information Service’s Korean Culture Scene will continue to host various Korean culture festivals next year in a bid to further promote various aspects of Korean culture all around the world!
