The International Festival of Glass is a festival that takes place in the historical City of Stourbridge. Stourbridge is a city in the West Midlands of the UK that has about 400 years of history in glass craftsmanship.

This festival is held every two years and attracts nearly 300 glass craftsmen and thousands of visitors from all around the globe.

This year is special in that the theme of the festival is Eastern Asia and will spotlight the works of artists from Korea, Japan, and China.

As Korean glass crafts are expected to attract much attention at this festival, the Kculturescene has prepared various events in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in the UK in an effort to promote more aspects of Korean culture.

You can experience a variety of works by globally recognized Korean glass artisans such as Joon-yong Kim, Young-ho Park, Ji-yong Lee, Gwang-min Jung, Eun-su Choi, Hye-suk Choi, and Seong-hwan Hong.

In addition, various Korean events have been set up including a Hanbok fashion show with special performances and Korean culture experience programs.

On August 27 (Saturday), Korea Night with the theme of “Hot Hanbok, Cool Glass!” will be held.

In the string trio performance by a classic trio of the Royal Academy of Music, you can enjoy classical music such as works by Hayden and the Korean folk song ‘Arirang’.

A Korean dance troupe that is performing in the UK will also give a special performance of fusion Korean dance.

Festival attendees will especially look forward to the Hanbok fashion show on Korea Night.
Traditional Korean Hanbok is the central theme of the show and ‘Danha Judan’ will showcase modern Hanbok on the stage. Danha Judan, which operates their business in the UK, caught global attention through their Hanbok in Black Pink’s music video and ‘London Hanbok.’

Hanbok will also be presented with glass jewelry crafted by glass crafts artists Joon-yong Kim, Kieth , and other artisans so that you can appreciate the ‘special combination of Hanbok and glass.’
