[Korea Contents Week] Our wish for Korea Contents Week is that Korean culture will bring hope and comfort to your lives

K-POP, K-Drama, K-Beauty
Modern Korean culture starts with “K” for Korea.
This is because these cultural aspects include
Korea’s uniqueness that is different from traditional culture.

In particular, “Korea Contents” including K-POP, dramas, and movies,
have been receiving love from many people around the world.
As a result, these contents are expanding in range
to Korean food, fashion, and even literature and webtoons.
The rise of COVID-19 has led the way for an “untact”
culture consumption, resulting in
the rapid growth of various online cultural contents.

Some say that Korean cultural contents, including the drama series “Squid Game,”
was able to receive great attention around the world
because Korean culture was promoted based on communication and empathy
which played a great role.

People around the world have fallen in love with Korean contents.
They are now interested in the Korean language, food, and even traditional culture.
Korea is definitely starting to become
a cultural powerhouse.
To share Korean culture with the world,
the Korean Culture and Information Service will host “Korea Contents Week”
in seven countries around the world, including France, Hong Kong, and the USA.

To comfort and bring hope to people around the world
who are tired from COVID-19, KOCIS has prepared an event
to share Korean culture.
KOSIS will offer a number of events both online and offline
during the Korea Contents Week
so that Korean culture will be an unexpected source of enjoyment for global citizens.

Korea Contents Week organized by seven Korean Cultural Centers
will be unique for all countries, reflecting each country’s culture.

In France, with the National Hangeul Museum,
there will be a video that is made with realistic technology
featuring a special exhibition of Hangeul and a Hangeul performance.
There will also be Korean Culture Festivals in two cities
that will include Korean dance performances, calligraphy, and movies.

In Russia, an advertisement in subway stations
featured major aspects of Korean culture, including Hanbok, Korean food, and Hanok (Korean traditional house).
This was a new opportunity to “promote Korean culture with advertisements.”
The advertisement also had a digital aspect to it, with a scannable QR code that leads to
detailed information of cultural contents on the Korean Cultural Center website.
There were also fusion-traditional music performances, webtoon exhibitions, and videos on how to cook Korean food, and promotions of these contents.

A great festival was also held in Hong Kong, which is definitely an international city of arts.
At the PMQ, a place loved by the Hong Kong people and also a major tourist attraction,
a “Korean Square” was held, featuring a comprehensive Korean cultural festival
including Korean food, Taekwondo, and traditional cultural experiences.
There was also a collaborative event of cultural artists from Korea and Hong Kong,
with performances by local musicians including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the blind violinist Kim Ji-sun.

In addition, Korea Contents Week
provides you with a variety of online cultural contents
that incorporate various aspects of Korean culture in detail.
Covering the topics of Korea’s nature, folklore, craftsmanship, and literature,
video contents will allow you to explore
each and every side of Korean culture.

Cultural videos produced by culture-focused organizations
will also be released one by one.
These organizations hope to bring some comfort
to everyone who is simply tired from COVID-19.
Stay tuned to the National Museum of Korea’s “Pyeongsaengdo, a Life Dreamed of in Joseon Dynasty,”
the Asia Culture Center’s “BBRUN The Immersive Theater,”
and the National Gugak Center’s “Oh! Pansori.”

Korean Cultural Centers around the world
also seek opportunities for Hallyu-related industries
to enter the local community by providing a space
to share and provide various experiences
including those related to Korean food, beauty, and the environment.

As you can see, Korea Contents Week
will be the first step to actively introduce
Korean culture to major cities around the world.
With cooperation from various organizations, we will support
culture-related industries to enter foreign countries and provide richer cultural contents
for the world to catch a glimpse of
all aspects of amazing Korean culture,
including culture, video creating technology, and media art.
