The exhibition overviewing Korean popular culture from various angles for the first time is being held at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, UK from September 24, 2022 to June 25, 2023.

The Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum located in London, UK is the world’s largest museum of ornaments and designs.

With its annual visitors reaching 4 million, the V&A Museum that houses an estimated 2.8 million collected pieces from around the globe is regarded as the world’s best museum of arts, designs, and performances.

Since it first came into possession of Korean heritage and cultural items and artifacts in 1888, the V&A Museum has been introducing Korean culture by expanding its collections that include Korean embroidery, lacquer ware, silver products, fashion, and digital art.

The Korean Culture Scene anticipates that this Hallyu exhibition that is going to be held at the V&A Museum, one of the best museums in the world, will be a great opportunity to promote Korean culture to locals in the UK and visitors from around the world.

As a part of <Hallyu! The Korean Wave> that will serve as a great opportunity to promote colorful and dynamic ‘Hallyu’ around the world, the Korean Cultural Center in the UK is holding film screenings and performances at the V&A Museum in September in collaboration with the Korean Culture Scene hosted by the Korean Culture and Information Service.

The Special Exhibition opening on September 24 will shed light on how examples of Hallyu such as Korean films, dramas, music, and fandom have been created and what effect this phenomenon might have on culture.

The exhibition is expected to be a great opportunity to further spread Hallyu through the related exhibits such as with regard to the music and film industry that are pivotal in Korean popular culture and will also explore Korean traditional and contemporary culture in more depth.

Since its start in the 1990s, Hallyu has spread all around the world centered in Asia.
You can experience the energy of Hallyu that’s now gaining global attention while meeting the cultural powerhouse, Korea, as it leads digital culture.
