The Korean Culture Scene in Hungary ‘Korean Classic Days’ taking place for two months from September to October!


You can experience various Korean cultures in Hungary!

Hungary is a special country to Korea in that it is the first Central European nation we established diplomatic relations with in 1989.  

The Korean Cultural Center in Hungary has been working hard since its opening to introduce various Korean cultures to Hungary and hosting Korean culture festivals in collaboration with the Korean Culture and Information Services.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary this year, the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary is holding a Korean culture festival tilted ‘Korean Culture Scene’ in collaboration with the Korean Culture and Information Services.

In this festival with the theme of ‘Encounter between the past and the present: Beautiful companion,’ various performances that interpret Korean tradition from contemporary perspectives will be presented.

You can see various performances that interpret Korean tradition from contemporary perspectives while inheriting it in a creative manner. 
 
Four teams representative of Korean music artists will give unique performances from September to October - fascinating Hungarians with the beauty and excitement of Korean music.


 ‘Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra,’ the first performance of <Korean Classic Days> 
September 13 (Tue) 19:00 – Franz Liszt Academy of Music

The Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra, the most authentic Korean-style orchestra that shows the infinite possibilities of Korean music, is going to introduce the excellence of Korean contemporary music to the world music industry of Europe on its tour to five European countries including Hungary by participating in Korean Culture Scene.

As it will be the first Korean traditional music performance happening in the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, the sacred place of music ever since its opening, Hungary’s foreign ministry officials and ambassadors from many different countries will be attending.

Please come to the Korean Classic Days and enjoy the feast of sounds made by the Korean traditional music orchestra at the Gyeonggi Sinawi Orchestra concert that is divided into the first part ‘The beauty of Korea’ and the second part ‘Dynamic Korea’!


 ‘LEENAKCHI,’ the second performance of <Korean Classic Days>
September 21 (Wed) 19:30 – Budapest Magyar Zene Haza Concert Hall

One of the best Korean alternative pop bands ‘LEENALCHI’ that’s gaining worldwide popularity with its song ‘Tiger is coming’ is holding a concert in Budapest on September 21 and September 22.

LEENALCHI plays unique music where the stories of Korean traditional literature ‘Pansori’ seem to be emerging from modern pop rhythms!

LEENALCHI, a YouTube star with 600 million views, will perform Pansori Sugungga with catchy rhythms on the <Korean Classic Days> stage in the Korean Culture Scene in Hungary.

Please come and find out how the interesting story of the Korean traditional music Pansori Sugungga is going to be compiled into a unique soundtrack by LEENALCHI with their modern rhythms!


 ‘Korean Symphony Orchestra,’ the third performance of <Korean Classic Days>
September 30 (Fri) 19:00 – Erkel Theater

The Korean Symphony Orchestra, one of the mainstays in the history of Korean symphonic music, is holding a concert as a part of public holiday ceremonies.

The Korean Symphony Orchestra that is making a constant effort to expand the base of classical music by freely crossing the boundaries of art is going to demonstrate the power of classical music played by one of the best Korean orchestras on its tour to three European countries including Hungary.

You can find out about the orchestra’s unique music world with various repertoires such as Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, and Texu Kim’s Dub-Sanjo and ‘Like a spring comes across the river.’

Please come and enjoy the performances of the Korean Symphony Orchestra led by one of the best Korean conductors Chung Chi-young in collaboration with vocalists Sunhae Im (soprano), Alfred Kim (tenor) and Jongmin Park (bass)!


Ahn Eun-Me Company’s ‘Dance devoted to Ancestors,’ the fourth performance of <Korean Classic Days>
October 21 (Fri) 19:00, October 22 (Sat) 17:00 – National Dance Theatre

The crazy funky chicken dance collaboration between modern dancers and old ladies of 55 years and above!

Ahn Eun-Me is a modern dancer famous for her provocative and outrageous dance moves that are far from conventional ones. 
You will get to see her dance team dancing with Hungarian old ladies on the stage.

Old ladies dancing the crazy funky chicken collaborate with modern dancers in this performance, expressing all sorts of human emotions with their moves.
