[KCULTURESCENE] ‘K-Webtoon Exhibition’ that you can enjoy in Thailand! Come and enjoy at the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand!

The KCULTURESCENE that is fascinating the whole world.
Korean culture including Korean dramas and films as well as K-pop has now positioned itself as one of the global cultural categories.

Among many others, there is a newly emerging culture that began in Korean and is now leading the world with its name originally coined in Korea.

It is ‘Webtoon’ that refers to digital cartoons.

Many K-webtoon companies that have grown based on the uniqueness and charms of webtoons are entering the global market.

‘Webtoon’ used to be contents that only had appeal within Korea but it has now transcended the borders of Korea and is expanding into the global market.

In fact, Kakao Webtoon proved its popularity by being ranked first in the webtoon category as soon as it branched out into the Thai market.

In Thailand where the popularity of webtoons is growing, the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand and the KCULTURESCENE is successfully holding <K-Webtoon Exhibition> in collaboration with Kakao Webtoon.

<K-Webtoon Exhibition> hosted by the Korean Culture and Information Center’s KCULTURESCENE is taking place from October 10, 2022 to January 31, 2023.

It offers you a special chance to meet popular webtoons being serialized via Thai Kakao Webtoon through interactive exhibits.

In this exhibition, you can meet a webtoon featuring Thai war veterans that was produced by the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand and experience some meaningful moments.

The webtoon <One day, the leader of the idol group I loved went missing> bears a great significance as it was produced to commemorate the Thai war veterans who courageously took part in the Korean War and signifies that the historical implications of their dedication is being honored through publication in series form on the homepage of the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand and via Thai Kakao Webtoon.

‘Little Tiger,’ the name of the idol group in the webtoon  refers to the Thai army that bravely fought in the Korean War and also connotes Korean history and culture such as K-POP.

The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand and the KCULTURESCENE hope this webtoon and K-Webtoon Exhibition will serve as a cultural and historical bridge and provide a huge boost for cultural exchanges between the two countries.

During the opening ceremony of K-Webtoon Exhibition that was held at the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand on October 10, various webtoon events took place.

The author Kim Eo-heung who wrote the scenario of <One day, the leader of the idol I loved went missing> and the illustrator Phoenix who drew pictures of the webtoon attended the ceremony and took some time to talk about the production process of the webtoon and its significance.

In addition, there were events to promote the exchange of webtoons between the two countries such as a talk show, a webtoon drawing demonstration, a meeting with authors and a signing event as well as a ceremony to appoint the author ‘Narak’ of the webtoon <The Office Blind Date> that was made into a drama and ranked number one in the ratings of Thai Netflix as the promotional ambassador of K-Webtoons.

In the KCULTURESCENE’s K-Webtoon Exhibition that is taking place at the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand, you can enjoy videos and pictures of the four popular webtoons <One day, the leader of the idol group I loved went missing>, <The Office Blind Date>, <Solo Leveling>, and <Solitary Lady> in separate interactive exhibit spaces with different themes.
